I was born in Linz, Austria and moved to the United States when I was very small. I started my nursing career in 1969 as a school nurse at a handicapped school for children along with being an office nurse at a pediatrician’s office. Whenever a teaching job became I available I began teaching pediatrics at a diploma school.
After teaching for fifteen years, I began a second phase of my career consisting of administrative positions in charge of initiating new undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in varied locations across the United States. For the next twenty-one years I was both an educator and administrator. I have been a pediatric nurse practitioner and then a family nurse practitioner since 1973. During this time, I have campaigned nationally to make background checks as a requirement for admission and retention in nursing programs. My research experiences have included assisting undergraduate and graduate students with their doctoral and capstone research projects. My own research has recently focused on obesity and metabolic syndromes in children. I have taught research to both undergraduate and graduate students in varied locations. I have been involved in both writing and participating in various grants, the latest of which is focused on quality educational experiences with preceptor-ships.

Dr. Martin Salzmann-Erikson School of Nursing University of Gävle, Faculty of Health and Occupational Studies, Department of Health and Caring Sciences, Gävle, Sweden. Sweden Contact : email@example.com
Martin Salzmann-Erikson, is a registered nurse specialized in psychiatric nursing. In addition to holding a Ph.D. in medicine with the specialty in health and caring science he is holding the position as an Associate Professor.
His doctorate thesis led to the conceptualization of caring in intensive psychiatry as a projection of a culture of stability. Within the culture of stability, he theorized that caring can be accurately described as the projection of rhythm and movements. Hence, nursing care in terms of movements creates fluctuations in the stability as it shapes the rhythm of caring in intensive psychiatry.
His current research investigates how and by what methods stability is created. Among the objectives, studies aim to contribute to the development of both the theoretical and practical knowledge of the working and care environments in psychiatric inpatient care. Identifying problems, needs, barriers and opportunities related to the project lead to significant knowledge concerning the staff’s psychosocial work environment in their daily lives at work.
Dr. Salzmann-Erikson has published almost 40 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and published book chapters for nursing students. He has also published popular science articles, contributed to national and international conferences and held lectures and symposia. After his doctoral degree, he received funding for a two-year research project as a post-doctoral researcher and has developed a work-model to enhance the work conditions for healthcare personnel.
