Dr. Sharon Wilks
Assistant Professor
Dr. Sharon Wilks is an Assistant Professor and the Undergraduate Program Coordinator in the Department of Nursing at Bowie State University (BSU). She has been a registered nurse for 38 years, including educating future baccalaureate nurses for 14 years. Dr. Wilks’ research areas of interest and publications include examining strategies to address the nursing faculty shortage and the mental health effects of COVID-19 on minority students. She has mentored students in the BSU Summer Undergraduate Research Institute. Dr. Wilks has served as Chair on several committees, including Chair of the Maryland Nurses Association Convention Committee. Dr. Wilks earned her PhD from Cappella University, her MPA from New York University Wagner School of Public Service and MSN from Bowie State University. Dr. Wilks is a Certified Nurse Educator. She loves to spend time with family, loves to cook, entertain, and exercise.
